The doctoral program in Social and Cultural Anthropology foregrounds a tradition of long-term ethnographic research, a critical approach to contemporary global problems, and regionally and locally informed analyses. The program has an interdisciplinary orientation, which enables a dialogue between disciplines and broadens research questions. The professors of the program are interested in critical approaches to contemporary anthropology, connecting the discipline to philosophy, ethics, politics, semiotics, aesthetics, ecology, science, and technology, as well as affect theory, urban, visual and sound studies. The program enables students to acquire dual degrees in the format of co-supervision and during the process of Ph.D. research receive consultations from the International Advisory Board.
